After the announcement made early yesterday that 'Sex and the City' star Kristin Davis would be showing her personal line, The Kristin Davis Collection, during Fashion Week's lineup, the show—and the line for that matter—is no more. Yesterday evening confirmed that Davis had actually canceled her show late last week, due to a mutual decision she made with Belk department stores to discontinue her line. Belk stores were the exclusive carriers of The Kristin Davis Collection after the actress created the line of apparel, accessories, and shoes with the retail chain last year. The current fall 2009 collection will be the last available in stores. While executives at Belk are releasing statements about the economy and the necessary changes that must occur in retail to meet the "changing customer needs and shopping patterns", Davis seems undeterred by her collection's fledgling success. She noted that she hoped to continue her line, just not with Belk, stating,"I’m looking forward to taking my brand in a new direction and I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead." And in the meantime, she's busy enough as it is with a sequel to film!
