NY Fashion Week Spring ’10. Fashion’s Night Out Madness.

September 11, 2009 • New York Fashion Week Spring '10

Did anyone actually go shopping last night?

During NYC's mega style scene: Fashion's Night Out, word was you couldn't even get into some of the "parties", they were so mobbed, let alone look around for a new fall dress.

From 6-11pm, stores like Stella McCartney, Barney's, Kate Spade, JC Penney, and Bergdorf Goodman's were packed with fashion forward style-aholics who were not just there to shop but get runway walk lessons from Miss J at H&M, cha-cha lessons with Kate Spade, watch Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen bartend at Barney's (we heard one clueless woman even tipped one of them), and enjoy a great bbq with Stella McCartney (and look fall fashion ready while doing it!)

Beauty Sweet Spot blogged that while everyone wasn't shopping (our own SCS EIC Lauren Dimet Waters said it didn't look like many were actually purchasing) the throngs were dressed to the nines in the latest and trendiest outfits–including bandage mini skirts, open-toe booties and boyfriend blazers.

Wonder how those Louboutins held up on the pavement?

Did you make it out to Queens for a Macy's Anna Wintour sighting? If you did, you would have also had a chance for a photo op with surprise guests Michael Kors, Gwen Stefani, and Kate Hudson. And of course, Anna was ever so stylish in her signature FNO tee!

The streets were packed, the champagne was flowing and Rihanna was at Intermix, with Sienna Miller and co-fashion designer sis.

The polka-dot sunglasses and a weird skunk hairdo–what was that about?
Also, I'm not feeling the black hoodie. Rihanna's known for standing
out. Where's the color?

And where were we? SCS editors headed over to Coach, Dior, Barney's, Cole Haan, Adam, Tory Burch, Theory, Purple Labs and Nine West.

Tory Burch held a bbq and chefs gave away buttered corn! The block party was the most fabulous on the block (or perhaps, in the District) while DJ Cassidy spun tunes and the Street Peeper snapped pics.

Charlize Theron made an impromptu appearance at Dior, signing copies of her cover on Vogue's September issue.

The Olsen twins promoted their line, The Row, while bartending at Barney's.  One fan confused poor Mary-Kate when he wanted to tip her–big! Everyone mingled Simon Doonan gave away 16 pairs of shoes and designer Alexander Wang gave runway lessons upstairs.

At Stella McCartney, Kate Hudson was mobbed by rabid shoppers!

At the Purple Lab in Scoop, stylelistas downed lychee martinis while watching burlesque dancer Veronica Varlow.

Lindsay Lohan shined in bright blue at Bloomingdale's with her signature Fedora and leggings in tow.

Victoria Beckham was caked in heavy makeup at Bergdorf Goodman but pulled off an orange bustier.  We'll give her props, she's Posh Spice of course, and I heard she was extremely gracious about taking photos.

Sarah Jessica Parker posed with Oscar de La Renta while Blake Lively was no surprise at Ralph Lauren–she loves the preppy scene!

Post FNO Madness, Womens Wear Daily twitted that Standard Grill was studded with stars for late night grub. Hugh Grant, Calvin Klein, Victoria Beckham and Daphne Guinness all made an appearance.

While it was certainly packed with fashion people and celebs, was Fashion's Night Out all it was toted to be and more?
