NY Fashion Week Spring ’10. Celebs: Worst of the Worst Dressed

September 12, 2009 • New York Fashion Week Spring '10

I hate to cap off the celeb edition of NY Fashion Week Spring '10 on a sour note, but we all know that celebs like to make a statement with their clothing, especially catching shows on the NY Fashion Week runway.

Unfortunately, not all of those statements are good ones. Statement-making, yes.  Pretty, no. Here are some of the worst fashion statement we've seen in the front rows so far and the celebs who make them.

Amanda Peet, Jason Wu

Amanda Peet is known for her tough meets sweet, tomboyish style that little by little has gotten more feminine. So when she wore this pink fringe getup at the Jason Wu, we applauded her for being a little more girlie. Unfortunately, the outfit was also ill fitting and frumpy to the max. Bad choice, Amanda.

Cory Kennedy, Charlotte Ronson

Cory Kennedy, Cushnie et Ochs

Though only 19-years old, fashion blogger Cory Kennedy is known for her vintage- meets-designer duds and party hopping ways. Unfortunately with teenage angst comes weight gain, mismatched threads, and for Cory, a subsequent lack of understanding of the layered look. Time after time, this year, she's looked like she's not trying hard enough and NY Fashion Week is not the place to do it. Stop looking so dumpy, Cory and get back to the great fashion you've always been known for.

Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Charlotte Ronson

Also at Charlotte Ronson, the shlumpy sister of the designer herself.  We know you've been to Charlotte's fashion shows before, but did you have to look so downright baggy for this one? It's NY Fashion Week, Annabelle!!

Danielle Staub, Alejandro Ingelmo

She's a real housewife in NJ, and she looks like an overdressed Italian mafioso's wife from Staten Island. The fur-like shoulder pads just looks tacky and trashy, like she's an overworked mom coming home from a ski trip.  It's NY Fashion Week, Danielle, get with the program…or has your feud with Caroline Manzo cut into your wardrobe?

AnnaLynne McCord, Monarchy

AnnaLynne has been known for her dominatrix type getups, her cleavage baring, and her pouty lips. So when he saw this little black number, we thought, oh she's calming down. Then we saw the cleavage cut out at the top. We like what she's trying to do with this architectural meets sex vamp look but it just doesn't work here. And to top it off, her tied back hair just looks bad. Enough said.

Alexa Chung, Preen by Thornton Bregazzi

This loudmouth MTV talk show host has seemingly come out of nowhere and is suddenly appearing everywhere! But with American star status comes responsibility and this outgoing hipster must know that she needs to look the part. So while we like her downtown trendster getup, the gray cardigan is too big and slouchy and the white dress makes her sag. Yes, she's been proclaimed as an "It" girl, the monacher she says is "really a quite depressing title to hold" for her quirky, nonchalant style, it really doesn't work here. .Love the grommet bag and ankle boots, though.

Kerry Washigton, Jason Wu

We've seen this look time and time again. The celeb who tries to showcase style with a mismatched look–a bright top and a print bottom or a patterned top and a solid bottom. Don't like it here though. Kerry Washington, usually known for being classy and regal, is trying too hard to be hipster ready and fashion forward. And that skirt splits in all the wrong places. Sorry, Kerry.

Estelle, Luca Luca

White sheer dress with diagonal one sleeve top. Could have worked even with that ugly v-cut fringe bottom. Then she boxed it with a boyfriend blazer. Totally messed up the look and she looks like she's working too hard to complete an outfit that should appear effortless. Can't say you didn't try, Estelle.

Julia Frakes, Cushnie et Ochs

It's been said that fashion blogger Julia Frakes doesn't go with the trends and likes to stick to her own style. Unfortunately that style is all over the place. Big denim trench, headband, floral print scarf, pink stirrup tights and interestingly crafted shoes.  This look seemingly goes for every trend all at once and it doesn't look good. Eccentric, yes, but your quirky style didn't work this time, Julia.

Brianne Colette, Indashio

Everyone at the Indashio was way too loud and over-the-top.  But singer Brianne Colette was definitely the worst. We've seen many a fashion faux-pas in the front row at Fashion Week but the ones that always take our breath away are the lightning loud one-piece getups that look like they came from the dollar store.  Bright red spandex leggings, Brianne? Really??
