Summary: What could make the show of an already superb designer duo even more impeccable? Bling of course! The gorgeously constructed designs of Badgley Mischka's Spring '10 collection were elevated to a new statement making status with an ongoing cascade of jewels. BM's trademark styles of fitted, feminine silhouettes in luxe silk, satin, and shauntung were blessedly ever present. But a few new stylings beyond the baubles (contrast stitching, rippling, dotted chiffon) also kept the collection fresh.
The collection stayed mostly within the black, white, and ivory realm punctuated with sleek shots of color. Many of the pieces were featured in the form of both a dress and a gown to optimize the range of the collection. Cleanly cut maillots and crisp tuxedos also topped the list and, as always, the textures of the garments were exquisite. And on top of all of that—a heavy chunk of glittering gems swung in time with the frothy layers of organza and the fluid draping of chiffon. Though the jewelry or the garments would have done well enough on their own, the combination of the two provided a smart balance of classic elegance and glitz.
