Summary: The Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti Spring 2010 Collection evoked a summer at the beach sans swimwear. The pieces consisted mostly of peach and orange hues juxtaposed against beiges and creams. Aqua-like shades, rich blues, and the occasional red played an important role while hints of chartreuse and green dotted necklines or popped off canvas lace-up heels. The pieces were young and playful, very sheer and lightweight, featuring vertical and horizontal stripes on shorts, airy baby doll dresses, and a-line racerback shift dresses. The most evident trend in this seasons collection, however, was the use of three distinct prints: a butterfly print, a lip print, and an eye print. That's right. As if these images has been cut from magazines for a ransom letter, pasted and imposed on fabrics were lips, open eyes (with lashes), and butterflies lining shift dresses, sheer tops, and even the shoes. Other details included slick grosgrain ribbons (wide and thin), metallic lining, and flat, layered ruffles. A few short, tailored jackets layered sheer strapless tops, but mostly the collection was a youthful and simple marriage between structure and fluidity.

Color Palette: white, beige, cream, peach, coral, tangerine, red, green, blue, aqua, chartreuse.

Fabrics and Textures: canvas, silk, chiffon, organza, tulle, grosgrain ribbon.

Key Looks: Babydoll dress with racerback and flowy empire waist printed with butterfly, eye print, and lip print; Coral colored cap sleeve babydoll dress with short, flat layers in front; Canvas multi-colored tie-up bowling shoe with heel; shorts with vertical stripes; shorts with horizontal stripes.
