Looks from Rodarte's Spring 2010 collection
The design duo behind Rodarte, sisters Laura and Kate Mulleavy, have had a lot to look forward to lately. They completed an as yet to be released holiday collection with H&M, have been dabbling in film production, and created a wildly successful Spring 2010 collection at New York Fashion Week. But the sisters are not stopping to take a breath just yet—they recently received the happy news that their designs were chosen to be featured in the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum next year. The exhibit will be the second installation in a museum series called, "Quicktakes", which features cutting edge, up and coming designers from around the world. Rodarte's fashion installation, “Quicktake: Rodarte,” will be on view in the museum’s billiard room from January 29 to March 14. The Cooper-Hewitt’s director of retail, Gregory Krum, is curating the installation with Susan Brown, assistant curator in the Textiles Department. After losing this year’s CFDA Fashion Design Award to Calvin Klein's Francisco Costa, the honor to be picked as the second label featured in the prestigious series, among all their other ongoing projects, will hopefully come as some kind of sweet retribution for the Mulleavys.
