Italian Chamber of Fashion Responds to Reports on Fashion Week Moving to Rome

Would all this work in Rome?

Fashion Week in Roma?! A recent report discussing the possible change of location for Italy's Fashion Week from Milan to Rome, has the Chamber of Fashion reeling. Mario Boselli, head of the Italian Chamber of Fashion, was quick to quell any rumors that were starting to spread about the location change, calling the idea "nonsense." The report apparently stated that talks are currently taking place between a number of Italian brands and
government officials who consider the capital of Rome as an alternative venue for their
ready-to-wear shows.

“Nobody who knows how the fashion industry works would think fashion
week could move from Milan," Boselli said. "[It is] the epicenter of our textile districts, a
publishing hub and the city where most of our designers are based
where they have invested in showrooms and their own runway locations." Boselli went on to say that confusion may have been raised on the issue since the Italian Chamber of Fashion is currently discussing the possibility of resurrecting a yearly fashion show event called Donna Sotto Le Stelle, or “Woman Under the Stars,” that's held in July in Rome’s Piazza di Spagna. The annual event was televised and very popular in the eighties and nineties in both Italian and International markets. Boselli noted that if fashion event would be taking place in Rome anytime soon, it would only be the Donna Sotto Le Stelle. Whew.
