On the heels of his highly anticipated creation of Barbie shoes, specially made for the iconic doll's 50th anniversary this year, Christian Louboutin is continuing his work for the Mattel company. "I guess I always had a little 'girlie side' who liked Barbie," Louboutin said of his decision to create the shoes for Barbie's 50th anniversary show which premiered during New York's Fall 2009 Fashion Week. "Barbie needs to wear great shoes because every girl needs to wear great shoes."
Now the designer has signed up as the newest name to give the doll a complete head to toe makeover. he is currently in the process of creating three dolls that will be released over the coming months. Without giving away too much, Louboutin did tell WWD that he has repshaped the dolls' figures since he never agreed with Barbie's original proportions. “He found her ankles were too fat,” said a Louboutin spokeswoman, who did
reveal one of the dolls would be released in time for the Cannes
International Film Festival in the spring. Well, if we have to wait that long, what can we expect from the doll stylistically? “They’re completely wild and even come
with mini Louboutin boxes for the shoes,” she said. So fun!
