OPI for Sephora, Matte Domestic Goddess

I have a true love affair with nail polish, and am constantly looking for new colors and trends to add to my ever-growing garden of nail polish. So when I saw OPI was coming out with a line of matte nail polish, I was instantly intrigued. Isn't the joy of nail polish to adorn your fingers with a beautiful, shiny gloss? How matte nails would fare, I wasn't sure. I purchased my bottle from the OPI for Sephora collection in Metro Chic, which is a beautiful smoky gray with a hint of purple – the perfect shade of purple for fall. OPI does an excellent job of labeling each bottle with the do's and dont's of matte nail polish application, and I would advise that you adhere to their suggestions: don't use hand lotion, top coats, or base coats, as it will wear on the polish and the color won't last as long. Also, it's important to paint FAST, and to use multiple top coats. It dries very quickly, and it has a tendency to look a little chalky if you only do a couple of coats. I did three, and liked that just fine.

All in all, I'm really pleased with the polish. Although I wouldn't say that I love it better than a sheer lacquer, for matte, OPI does very well. Their color collection is fabulous, and who doesn't love a fun new make up trend? At only $9 a bottle, you have nothing to lose by trying something new! I'd recommend a brighter color, as the matte finish doesn't pop as much as one that's shiny. Go for a beautiful grape, like Matte Domestic Goddess (pictured above), or if you want to indulge in Chanel's jade trend, try Gargantuan Green Grape Matte. For a burst of color amidst the gloom that is this fall, go pink with La Paz-itively Hot Matte. Polish is available at Sephora, and all other OPI retailers.
