For his latest collaborative collection with Payless shoes, Christian Siriano (a.k.a. my new BFF since chatting him up last week) debuted the spring 2010 footwear line during his runway show at New York Fashion Week. The shoes boasted an array of decadent, over the top elements like buckles, cut outs, platforms, and an impressively sky high talon heel that almost sent one model toppling off the runway. To translate the shoes to real life, however, Payless toned every one of those elements down dramatically. Too dramatically. According to a photo released of the samples for the upcoming collection (see below), it looks as though the company merely slapped the blue-and-orange ocean-inspired fabric onto a pair of plain,low-heeled pumps. All the glamour and joie de vivre of the original styles is gone, leaving behind a gaping whole of blandess. Maybe its too much to expect any pizazz from a mass marketed shoe, but it looks like Payless could try a just a little harder. Afterall, WWCS (What Would Christian Say!)
Do these look the same as the ones above???
