The Peninsula Chicago is all about Breast Cancer Awareness this month. From a back-lit pink hotel entrance to pink ribbons on the marble lions guarding the entrance, The Peninsula is spreading the word.
Maria Zec, general manager of The Peninsula Chicago, said, "We all know one person who has been affected by breast cancer in some way and this is why we at The Peninsula Chicago felt compelled to get involved."
Part of the hotel's initiative comes in the form of the Afternoon Tea. $2 for every Afternoon Tea served in The Lobby from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. will be donated to Lynn Sage and there is even a special pink tea – Mighty Leaf's Organic Berry Wellness – that not only raises awareness but also includes beneficial ingredients to those undergoing treatment. During Fashion Focus Chicago, informal fashion shows are held during the tea.
Yesterday, Second City Style was lucky enough to be able to attend the Afternoon Tea featuring Armani. To the sound of a violin and cello playing in the background, three Armani models walked around The Lobby, displaying new and vintage designs from the designer's Chicago store.
The elegant luxury that is any design from Armani was admired equally by the models and Second City Style. The blue jacket, worn by the model in the center, is a double cashmere jacket – as soft on your skin as it is on the outside.
They finished off the informal showing with a little Armani Vintage (shown on the two models on the right). The styles date from the '70s and '80s, respectively, and are beautifully tailored and en vogue.
The next teas benefiting Breast Cancer Awareness at The Peninsula feature J. Mendel today October 23rd, and Ultimo Jewelry by Sidney Garber tomorrow October 24th. Indulge yourself!
