The news from Conde Nast just keeps getting worse. In a week that most employees of the media empire will probably associate with the color pink, layoffs were reported at Vanity Fair, GQ, Allure, and Architectural Digest. According to WWD, the hardest hit was Vanity Fair whose cuts in the editorial department were "sizable." The New York Post believes that the cuts were in the double digits. Continuing the trend of Conde Nast(y) layoffs, it is reported that senior editor Heather Halberstadt was also let go, after having worked at Vanity Fair for around ten years. Last week, the title fired five people from its ad sales staff. The post also mentions that Editor-in-Chief Graydon Carter decided to skip town that day and not deliver the news himself. Over at GQ about half a dozen staffers were let go, while on Wednesday, Allure laid off five members including executive editor Susan Kittenplan. The total number of layoffs at Conde Nast is not known, but is estimated at over 300. Hopefully next week will bring better news.
