Fall weather means it is time to layer on the scarves, cardigans, and jackets. Of course, layering is always a autumn/winter mainstay, and this fall, it is all about the blazer. Here are the key styles – pick your favorite or be a style chameleon and try all five on for size.

Boyfriend – A slouchy blazer that you can throw over anything is a girl’s best friend. Femme it up by wearing it over a ruffled blouse (another key trend) or rolling up the sleeves to show off delicate bracelets and rings. This Elizabeth and James number fits the bill with its perfectly cut masculine cool.

Body Con – The polar opposite of the boyfriend look are the sleek and ultra-fitted body conscious styles that will sculpt and show off your figure. This Givenchy leather and tweed jacket might be worth the splurge if you love this look; try L.A.M.B. or LaRok for more affordable variations on this trend.

Rock Chick – There’s nothing like glittering sequins to bring out your inner rock star. This LaRok jacket would work with a casual tee for day, or you could pair it with wide leg trousers and platforms for an unexpected evening look. The pewter shade keeps it from being too Vegas, and it would be perfect with fall’s plums, purples, and marine blues.

Ladylike – Take a page from the socialite crowd and add a tweedy tailored blazer to your wardrobe mix. Something like this belted Kate Spade jacket would be perfect with skinny jeans and boots; we suggest switching out the ribbon for another belt (perhaps something in patent?) if you want to make it a little less girly.

Statement – Some jackets simply speak for themselves, and this Alexander Wang blazer is one of them. Between the studs, the sharp lines, and the edgy cut-out back, this is the jacket that takes a little attitude to pull off. If you’ve got the moxie, however, this could be your statement piece for the season.
