Lagerfeld Talks Design on CNN

December 18, 2009 • Fashion

CNN International sat down in Shanghai to talk with the world's most recognizable man in fashion: Karl Lagerfeld. He talks about his almost 30 year tenure at  Chanel and the upcoming projects that may be in store for the iconic fashion house, as well as Fendi. He has contracts for life with both houses.

Though the interview won't air until Wednesday, December 23, has a few snippets of the interview.

"My job is to put in people's brain the idea what Chanel was all about, even if it was not about such a large choice of things… I pushed [Coco Chanel's] symbol, like the change of pearls, in a way much more than she did herself. I could play with everything and mix it with everything that's going on in fashion because fashion is about that. It's not retrospective, it has to be something you want to wear now," he said.

I would just like to point out that the reporter knew she was going to be interviewing one of the fashion designers of the world and she settled on that spiffy ensemble? Mom jeans? How dreadful…
