much of the country—have cut out a fair amount of clothes shopping the
past year, and if I hear the words "Shop your closet" one more time, I
might scream. However, with the holidays coming up, I'm headed back to
the Heartland for a little quality time with the family, and there I'll
find a closet I haven't shopped: My mom's.
I got the idea from Ming Wang,
a clothing line with a target market a wee bit older than me. But when
I saw women from their 20s to their 50s* rocking the clothes, I
realized that I've been suffering from fashion age-ism, eschewing
brands geared toward older (or younger) clientele without a glance. No
Ming Wang is particularly all-ages friendly: everything is machine
washable (even the beaded stuff!), color guarded and wrinkle resistant.
I got my mom a sweater set similar to the one on Nancy, center (it has
fabulous beading at the edges that isn't very visible in the picture),
while I'm loving the Chanel-esque military type shirt seen on Jamie at
left. And perhaps my favorite piece is their simple black dress:
Traveling execs can shove it in their bag and arrive chic and
wrinkle-free; new moms can have a beautiful, ultra-flattering go-to
dress that they can toss in the washer and drier; and girls-about-town
will dress it down with boots, up with bling and wear it season after
season after season.
