British-based designer Matthew Williamson has just announced that that he will be unveiling a fully functional e-commerce site for his fans on our side of the pond. After a wildly successful run of Williamson's site in the UK last spring, followed by growing popularity throughout Europe, the designer has decided to expand his webstore to the States. His New York flagship opened its doors last year to critical acclaim, seemingly emboldening the award-winning designer to grow further. "I am pleased to bring my mainline Ready-to-Wear collection to a wider audience within the US through this dedicated online store," Williamson said of the launch. The new site, created with the help of creative digital agency Pod1, will be publicized trough primarily email marketing and a promotional online campaign. The campaign will feature the latest ready-to-wear collection that will be available on the site.
Williamson's choice to extend his online retail coverage is a wise move in the currently competitive e-commerce market, according to Pod1 founder Fadi Shuman. “As important as it is for all retail brands to give their consumers variety and opportunity to interact with their brand, for designers especially, it is vital to establish their brand image online," Shuman noted.
