Truth be told I love my Uggs. If for no other reason, they keep my feet toasty when I have to walk my dog in the freezing cold. I do not wear them to make a fashion statement because I do not feel they make (a good) one. They are truly ugly and when I see them on 10 year-old school girls I feel I have to rethink my boot choice. Uggs are also useless in wet snow and slush (no matter how much you try to waterproof them) and my Hunter rain boots do not keep my feet warm. Oh what to do? Well I just discovered Sorel (yes, Sorel) makes a more attractive alternative.
The Sorel 'Hoonah' is an equestrian-inspired boot which is very versatile, and can be dressed up or down. The boot is made of waterproof leather, 100g Thinsulate insulation, a knit wool lining, easy-on/easy-off closures, a removable and molded footbed, a traction-enhancing
multi-directional rubber lug outsole. My Hoonah's are seriously comfortable and perfect for blustery fall days, or snowy winter
afternoons. Now I don't have to be embarrassed that I may see someone I know while walking my dog. My feet are toasty warm, totally happy and fashionable to boot. Now if it would just snow again!
The Sorel Hoonah is available in ‘delta’ or ‘black’ for $180 at Sorel.com
