There may be freezing winds and flurries outside but Banana Republic is getting a jump start on spring. The retailer just announced they will be launching a capsule collection for resort 2010. The collection, called Luxe Leisure, will feature around 40 pieces ranging from swimwear, tunics, and cover ups, all with a breezy, beachy vibe. The collection will drop officially in March, though the line is planned to be sold year-round in Banana Republic's warm weather stores. For those of us that still have frigid temps to look forward to, the light and airy pieces will surely have us planning our own much-needed tropical vacay. “We’re trying to capture the needs of the customer,” said Simon
Banana Republic’s creative director and executive vice
“They’re going away for weekends, and with the snowbirds going to
Florida, there’s always a need for [resort wear] in the middle of the
season.” The price range of Luxe Leisure will be similar to the store's full spring/summer collection, ranging from $30 to $110. Kneen said the capsule collection—which he described as “full-on summer with lots of bare skin
and a lot more color,”
—and the store's warm weather inventory will essentially be one and the
same during the traditional summer season. Banana Republic is already planning two additional
collections set for fall/winter,
so at least us cold weather people won't be completely left out!
