Celebrity Style. Grammy Glam 2010

February 1, 2010 • Celebrity Style

If I have to hear
Taylor Swift thanking the world for the umpteenth time, I think I’m
gonna — well, I don’t what I’m going to do but it’s going to be something

But seriously, folks,
Taylor Swift was the darling of the Grammys, like she’s the darling of every
other awards show she appears in.

The thing is, how can
we possibly insult her when so she was one of the few Grammy participants to
look gorgeous last night.  As we all
know, music stars are known for costumey getups that make over-the-top
statements rather than true beauty and stylish fashion and the Grammy Awards certainly
didn’t disappoint in that department.

What, with Pink, Lady
and Elton John all in the same room, what can go wrong? Unfortunately, a
whole lot.

Return of the Gown

Last year we saw a
whole lot of mini dresses, sequins, and gladiator stilettos.  This year, on the other hand, entertainers and
musicians decided that it would be a trendsetter’s paradise to bring back the long
gown — the kind we’re used to seeing at the Golden Globes and the Oscars. Unfortunately, musicians always manage to mess up their statement gowns because they throw too many trends in at once.  But hey, they're performers, they're allowed right? Sometimes. Here's what worked and what didn't.

Beyonce wearing Stephanie Rolland

If I wanted to see an old world mosaic, I would visit the Museum of Natural History.

Rihanna wearing Elie Saab Haute Couture

Rihanna used to be quite the fashion plate.  Is it just me or is she going overboard lately?

Pink wearing Tony Ward

Glamorous, a little too mermaid.  But for the Grammys? We were waiting for Pink to bring on that rock & roll edge.

Nicole Kidman wearing Prada

What I love about Nicole Kidman is she knows when to amp it up and when it subdue her glam.  This was not her night, this was her country singer husband's and she dressed accordingly.

Carrie Underwood wearing Edition by Georges Chakra

Country girls can dress! Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift were the best of the night!

Jennifer Nettles wearing Victoria Beckham

Yes, two celebs wore Victoria Beckham's new line tonight which means it's going straight to the top. Love the black piping, the red, and the sexy cutouts.

Katy Perry wearing Zac Posen

She told the world she was "channeling Indian Betty Paige princess." Looks more like a blah version of the California Gold Rush to me.

Now this is more like
it! Lady Gaga wearing some kind of dress contraception (at least it’s Armani
!), Britney Spears wearing fishnets and a bodysuit (big surprise there)
and Jennifer Hudson looking structured, sculpted, and uber-trendy. While overly costumey, she definitely had our
favorite look of the evening.

Lady Gaga wearing Armani Prive

Lady Gaga never ceases to impress. She may be wearing an ice skating rink,  but she certainly does look glamorous.

Britney Spears wearing Dolce & Gabbana

Can't say the same for Britney Spears, who proves once again she has no idea how to dress.

Jennifer Hudson wearing Victoria Beckham

I've never seen Jennifer look more stunning. It proves Victoria's talent isn't limited to wearing petite little pencil skirts.

Sequins and
Mini Dresses

Glitter abounded as mini dresses manifested themselves for the evening in an array of sparkling hues.

Taylor Swift wearing Kaufman Franco

Well, except for Taylor Swift, that is. This country princess does stand out.  She's the only one wearing a sequined gown and look at that beautiful sculpted pointy shoulder line

Fergie wearing Emilio Pucci

Now here's a funky color combination we haven't seen yet–cobalt blue and gold, a trend of the new millenium!

Heidi Klum wearing Emilio Pucci

Heidi outshines Grammy nominee husband Seal—literally!!

Jennifer Lopez wearing Versace

Ummm shouldn't the train be in the back? Whatever JLo!

Wow, the dresses were all over the board in looks. I definitely liked Carrie’s dress the best. Way to highlight all the different styles!

Victoria Beckham’s dresses seem to be surprisingly nice. All the other dresses are kind of boring.
