Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli
The Valentino Couture Spring 2010 collection stunned my eyes with its heavy futuristic focus and edgy sculptured accents. Some vibrant neons are softened, hiding behind mesh and lace, while the others escape and boldly illuminate the runway.
Each item would be categorized as my favorite. If I had the chance to choose one single item to be hanging in my closet, we would be here for a while!
Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, Valentino’s designing twosome, were definitely trying to deliver a futuristic effect with this show. From the“Avatar” blue-streaked makeup to the video animations of twirling trees projected on the walls of the room, the goal was to create a sense of “magic and fantasy” with an impression of “virtual Eden,” according to Picciolo.“We don’t think it’s a moment to be safe,” he said.
Playing it safe was far out of the question! From ruffles and embedded jewels to feathers and sheer madness, the clothing had such individual, striking highlights. Check them out for yourself and see what you think!
The beauty in this collection literally takes my breath away. I forget to breathe because I’m so mesmerized by the details!
