Summary: I have to admit, I have been procrastinating writing this one up. Why? Well as much as I really wanted to like this collection (and I really did), I didn't. According to Christian Siriano, the collection was
inspired by European women in the sixties. According to me, it's obvious his investors want him to be more retail appealing to his legions of fans. The collection therefore was kinda time. I kept thinking, this is like Payless shoes of clothes, for the frumpy crowd. Once the dry-ice smoke cleared we saw a few great pieces, like the leather peplum jacket which I would love to own and some cocktail dresses with flamboyant bow details. But the drama and inspiration one has come to expect from Siriano was just missing, as was the taste level. The fabrics were too shiny and unforgiving and some of the color combinations like hot pink and brown together, was puzzling. It seems the Project Runway fan favorite who dazzled us all by bucking the rules has sold out to the man.
