Ok, I feel like this issue needs to be addressed since I KNOW I wasn't the only one who saw the thematic similarities between Amanda Seyfried and JLo's dresses at last night's 82nd Annual Academy Awards. So Seyfried showed up first, resplendent in the structural Armani Prive ballgown that had media oohing and aahing as the first great dress of the night. It had a questionable color in the natural light but twinkled with metallic threads that ran through the entire gown. Fast forward about an hour and half to when JLo shows up late in true diva fashion, and lo and behold, she's shimmying down the carpet in a similarly shape that also glimmered with the same telltale twinkle. JLo amped up the drama with her side train that billowed voluminously at her hip and sent paparazzi into a frenzy. Crtics on and off the carpet lauded JLo for her inability to disappoint as a red carpet aficianado, and all of a sudden it was Seyfried, who?
But as beautiful as JLo was, I can't help but feel bad for Seyfried who really gave it the old college try, and even seemed to succeed before getting completely overshadowed. It almost makes one wonder how these high end fashion houses don't consult with their celeb clients beforehand to ensure something exactly like this does not happen. Although further inspection proved Seyfried's was a mint green while JLo's was reportedly pale pink, the two dresses did appear cut from the same cloth (literally!) And on the movie industry's most glamorous and important night of the year, I don't care how far along you are in your career, the last thing you want to have happen is to come down the red carpet looking like someone else. So I'm sorry, but that's a foul called on the Prive party. So who do YOU think should win the clash of couture? Seyfried's classic fairytale look or JLo's innovative drama?
