I love nautical stripes. They are so Parisian, but I'm not sure they like me. While I'm glad to see them back, not many of us should wear them. They are not exactly flattering if you you are not a waif. By now everybody should know horizontal stripes are not your friend if you are looking to minimize a particular area. Back when I was 20 and spent some time in Paris I bought a navy and white striped shirt which I proceeded to wear to death (when in Rome right?). I now have to look at those pictures forever…and they are not pretty. I am busty so that was probably not the right choice. So, if you are small on top, go for a stripped sweater and plain bottoms. Conversely, if it's your bottom half that is your best feature, try a stripped skirt (#6). If you are still cautious, you may want to try the wide set thin strips shown in #3 which is a little more forgiving. Or you may just want to bypass this trend altogether.
