The finished product (Me!) and Makeup Artist Gabriel Almodovar
This weekend, the Maybelline New York's ColorStudio came into Chicago, doing one-on-one makeovers and 15 minute consultations. Partnering with Gen-Art, Shecky's and Walgreen's, the ColorStudio provides women with tips and techniques to accessorize their current everyday looks or create new ones. Gabriel Almodovar was on hand, along with a few other artists to personally give tips on how to make the best for the upcoming spring and summer palettes. Almodovar has been perfecting the stars looks all around the Hollywood circuits for the past nine years.
The ColorStudio division, which landed in stores this past January, consists of 12 quad-eyeshadows, 10 duo-eyeshadows, 4 gel liners and 4 XXL Pro-mascaras.
Gabriel demonstrated on me the basics of creating a sexy eye, considering my makeup routine usually consists only of black liquid eyeliner. Using only two colors, he showed me how to make a smoky eye using a dark green and burgundy blended together. The end result was something that even the eyeshadow-challenged (i.e., ME) could put together in a matter of minutes. He topped off the eye with a black liner, mascara and peach lip gloss and it was good to go.
Gabriel made sure to let me know that though he thinks there are no big makeup trends to change your makeup cases for, do make sure you arm yourself with something coral for your lips, whether it be lipsticks, liner or lip gloss.
"I feel that coral is one of the true colors that never go out of style," Almodovar said. "They look good on everyone, all you have to do is make it lighter or darker to suit [your mood]."
The next and last stop of the tour is New York City from June 21 to June 24. You can also see more of Almodovar at his website.
