Spring ’10 Trends. In Distress!

April 12, 2010 • Fashion

This spring, undone is the new done up with artfully distressed pieces. Ripped, torn, banged up, battered and worn in are the latest ways to make the ultimate street style statement. And though they may seem a bit too disheveled at first glance, closer inspection of the perforated pieces suggest a method to the madness. As perfect layering pieces for spring, many distressed tops and dresses boast strategically placed cutouts. Pair neutral pieces with patterns and bright colors for a perky peek into what lies beneath.  And who can resist the rock god glamour of shredded denim. A ripped up jean or mini will be worth its weight in gold as the staple "wear with anything" piece for the summer. If you prefer the kind of distress that you can quickly shrug on or off,  the worn-in leather on a handbag, boot or jacket provides a serious dose of understated chic. Though these pieces look like they've been around for ages, its the careful construction that goes into each one that makes the trend undeniably fresh and current.
