Style Wars 2010 – An Avant-Garde Affair sponsored by VYNE Magazine began as a plethora of overwhelmingly foggy excitement. Local artisans gathered at Hotel Sax to compete in the annual large-scale fashion event, showcasing their creative styling edge in a runway competition. The local stylists were judged on a variety of components including: creative instinct, on-of-a kind pieces only using a black and white theme, recent humanitarian occurrence, and finally the "rewind" round in which stylists were asked to transform their competitors editorial runway theme using their own sense of style, of course! Based on originality, quality and sheer couture instinct, the judges definitely had their work cut out for them.
Some of Chicago's most elite were on-hand to offer their support and fashion savvy critique; Candace Jordan, Billy Dec Gordon Wood, and Nancy Good just to name a few, were all a part of the judging panel for the evening. Talk about pressure!
Milan-David Richardson, Creative Director of VYNE Magazine, kicked off the event with special recognitions to The Chicago Fashion Foundation, in which all ticket proceeds from the night’s event were anticipated to go toward its yearly scholarship that funds local fashion-extraordinaire.
Adding more excitement to the evening, local artist, Nikki Lynette, performed her hit song, "Model in the Mirror." The crowd went bananas and so did Second City Style!
