Well, that was quick and completely out of the blue…
Fern Mallis, IMG senior vice president, is leaving Fashion Week to create her own consulting company called Fern Mallis LLC starting today. Her last day, called as a shock to many, at IMG was yesterday.
Mallis has been the Fashion Week planner for the last 18 years, ever since she was the executive director of the CFDA. Malis said that the move from Bryant Park to the Lincoln Center is what fueled her need for change. “When we were planning the move to Lincoln Center, it felt like closure, like the end of the cycle," she told WWD.
But don't expect her to abandon Fashion Week so quickly… IMG Fashion will be her first client. Stephanie Winston Wolkoff will also be signing on as the newly made position, Fashion Week director.
