WTF Was She Thinking? The Week That Was In Bad Celebrity Style.

May 3, 2010 • Celebrity Style

Now that awards season is officially over, glamorous A-listers need to find new reasons to get dolled up and step out on the town. Unfortunately, sometimes we wish that they hadn't. With no shortage of spring dinners, galas and grand openings, we're opening these typical trendsters are able to find their way back to the light.

Sarah Jessica Parker at the 2010 New York City Ballet Spring Gala in New York

Comment: Yes we can often appreciate Ms. Parker's ability to push the envelope, but sometimes she just misses the mark. I'm much more interested in seeing the rest of her delicate nude-colored dress than enjoying the weird, foil-like material on her green metallic jacket. It seems some ideas are just better on paper.

She's Thinking: I borrowed it from the ballet's costume department.

Gwyneth Paltrow at a Chopard party in New York

Comment: This statuesque star is usually so on point when making the most of her assets. But this dowdy gown is so much more matron than hot mama. And as she already forgotten her famous fashion mishap from the last time she paired a flesh covered fabric with a thin overlay? It resulted in the unflattering boob shot of the decade. And she's treading on this ice again here.

She's Thinking: Now that I live in London, I thought I would start dressing like the Queen.

Kylie Minogue at the DKMS 4th Annual Gala in New York

Comment: Speaking of flesh-colored faux pas, this is interesting look for Kylie that I'm not exactly loving. She is making great use of her cove-table curves, I'll give her that, but the high-waisted wrap skirt and bizarre, chest-covering beading is just a little more GaGa than glamour.

She's Thinking: If I was channeling GaGa, I wouldn't have any bottoms on at all!

Kat Von D at the party celebrating women in Beverly Hills

Comment: I understand that Kat Von D has an image to uphold, but if she wants to be partying with the big girls, like fellow attendees Renee Zellweger and Gina Gershon, she needs to take herself more seriously. Her circus tent-patterned outfit does little to highlight all her recent weight loss, especially the droopy area between the legs. Plus the bright red color of her pantsuit clashes with the bright red color of her hair and everyone knows its best to keep an obnoxiously loud color like that to one area per outfit.

She's Thinking: Its gonna be a big night under the Big Top!
