Chicago Events. NARS Glows On for Summer 2010

May 10, 2010 • Beauty, Events

Last Friday I had the distinct pleasure of attending an exclusive presentation from the friendly faces at NARS cosmetics. In a penthouse room at the Sutton Place Hotel Chicago, the meeting was held to showcase the new, drool-worthy pieces in the NARS Summer 2010 collection, in conjunction with a special appearance at Barneys by NARS makeup artist, Lena Koros.

As I—along with the other privileged few bloggers—munched on breakfast goodies and took in the amazing skyline views, lead trainer for NARS cosmetics, Jeff Rosse, walked us through the gorgeous Summer 2010 line. The face of the collection was supermodel Amber Valetta, styled to resemble French screen siren Catherine Deneuve in her classic 1967 film, Belle de Jour. Deneuve's character, Severine Serzy, is a high class woman with erotic tendencies so founder and creative director Francois Nars channeled that naughty but nice sensuality into the colors of the collection— a glowing palette of peach and coral punched up with a cool wash of blue. "I designed the makeup to bring a natural-looking glow to the skin, while allowing women to have fun with color." Francois Nars says of the collection. "After all, summer is a playful season, nothing should be too complicated!"

The Summer 2010 collection consists of:

Enchanted Cream Blush ($26), a rosy,  vitamin-enriched formula that blends easily for a sheer flush and healthy, glowing summertime skin.

Burn It Blue Duo Cream Eyeshadow
($32), a shimmering  ocean-blue paired with an iridescent turquoise which can be worn separately or layered together.

Cayenne Cream Eyeshadow ($22), a rich espresso brown in a weightless formula that be used either to line or as allover color on the lid.

Love Devotion Lipstick
($24), a luscious, guava-colored pop of color on sun-kissed lips.

Coup de Coeur Lip Gloss ($24), a slick, brandy-tinted gloss with an easy-to-use wand applicator.

Lamu Multiple ($38), the cosmetic's line trademark tool sauced up in a glazed-apricot shade which can be swiped over lips, eye or cheeks for a bronze goddess glow.

Versailles Nail Polish ($16), a luminescent, champagne-golden polish that gleams elegantly for day or night.

As we learned of each sumptuous shade, they were passed around out table for us to dab, smear, swipe and generally get acquainted with the products. The colors were rich and decadent and literally glowed on our faces, regardless of skin tone. I found that my olive-tinted tone worked well with the more orange-y tones in the peach and coral colors. The washes of bronze enhanced the natural flush of my face and the lip colors made my bland pout 100% perkier. Needless to say, after this fun and tempting teaser, I can't wait to get my hands on the full line for the final touches to my perfect summer wardrobe!
