Did Calvin Klein Snub the Over 40 Crowd?

May 11, 2010 • Fashion

Could Calvin be insulting the wrong crowd?

Calvin Klein is taking a new approach to his newest fragrance called Beauty. The perfume is aimed at “a woman in her 40s, who is self-assured and secure,” according to creative director Francisco Costa. And since the fragrance will be geared towards an 30 to 40ish crowd, magazine editors from titles aimed at the 40-plus reader, such as Redbook, were not invited to a launch party dinner at the Calvin Klein Madison Avenue flagship store last week. But many other editors from Glamour, Elle, Vogue, Marie Claire, and InStyle were invited.

Could this be a snub or just an oversight? Coty, the licensee for Calvin Klein, didn't respond to comments and Calvin Klein's spokesman referred calls to Coty. Uh oh… Could be someone trying to pass the blame for this predicament?

The face of the new fragrance will be Diane Kruger (who happens to be 33 years old, by the way).
