Wow. Multi-media mogul, Tyra Banks, re-signs with IMG. It comes as no surprise after declaring "retirement" from the modeling world in 2005, something in Banks screamed, "I NEED to be on that runway again!" In retrospect, however, did she ever really leave? She’s the proprietor and face behind America's Next Top Model, which requires more than piloting a book of modeling instructions for wannabe supermodels. (If you ask me, isn't it weird that now she'll be competing with the same girls who try out for her show? Hmmm). Then there's the runway aligned stage on the set of her Emmy awarding winning talk show, which concludes spring of 2010. It was only a matter of time before her self-proclaimed fans would see her return to the catwalk and magazine covers worldwide.
Historically, most celebrities who claim retirement before they've reached their ultimate potential are often noted for re-tracking their thoughts in some shape or form. Let’s see, there was Jay Z who screamed, 'retirement' (more than once) before any dust accumulated on our CDs. There was Michael Jordan who, for the life of him, couldn't put his basketball down for two seconds if he tired, returned (again) to the basketball courts in 2001 – after being quoted as "retired" in 1993.
So what does all this mean? It means that the next time a fashion icon, triple platinum music star, or MVP sports enthusiast states that "it's a wrap", uh, it's probably not!
