Devi Kroell has left her own label.
According to the company which still bears her name, it appears that Kroell told her staff that it was her decision to resign as CEO and creative director of the brand last Tuesday. She will though continue to remain a shareholder and member of the board of directors.
Kroell started the luxury handbag and accessories brand in 2004. The brand then grew to shoes in 2006 and a ready-to-wear label in 2008. With Bartel’s financial backing, Kroell started to expand with store in New York as well as Las Vegas with plans of opening in Houston, Chicago, Florida and California. However, the relationship between Kroell and her investor seems to have become strained. Ralph Bartel, founder of the New York-based Internet media firm Travelzoo, was its CEO and president until 2008 and, in recent months, is said to have become increasingly involved in the day-to-day operations at Devi Kroell.
