Retail Detail. Nicole Miller Radically Revamps Web Shop

June 1, 2010 • Shopping

Nicole Miller is jumping on the latest wave of technology. The luxe dress designer has just relaunched her web store site with a more modern, editorial vibe that's both user-friendly and cutting edge. The new will reflect the company’s recent updates in its advertising campaign,
stores and showroom, and will also provide a better sense of the designer
herself, her personality and her lifestyle.
Miller told WWD that the changing climate of today's technology is what inspired her to undergo the makeover. “I had loved ours when we first started, but it just seemed dated now,
so we wanted to freshen it up and give it a new look,” she said.
Technology is advancing at such a rate…you constantly have to update,
and you can’t just take a Band-Aid approach. We wanted to do a major
overhaul, so it’s radically different

The new design strongly resembles the editorial feel of a magazine with an emphasis focus on visuals, printlike typography, flash collection galleries, improved e-commerce pages and a
pop-up shopping cart that allows users a preview of all its contents. The critically effective tool of Social
media also plays a key role,
featuring user-submitted
content, as well as Twitter and Facebook widgets. Miller already has a
social media following — at latest count, NicoleMillerNYC had more than
49,500 Twitter followers, and the designer had more than 4,600 fans on
“We wanted our Web site to reflect our image better,” Miller said,
citing updates to the stores, showrooms and the ad campaign as further
impetus for the change. “We felt the Web site was not reflecting the
image of the ad campaign as well as it could be,” Miller said. “We
wanted to make it more modern, and more like us.”
