So its been an interesting week thus far in the world of fashion. The premiere of Sex and the City 2 inspired both raves and rants with its outlandish take on what to wear from the streets of New York to the sands of the Middle East. And whether you loved the extravagant looks from the movie or not, warm weather is finally upon us and with it the chance to finally try out some of those summery runway trends. But are they all worth a second look?
One look in particular that's being discussed on the (stiletto) heels of the SATC sequel is the sheer pant. Having just been seen floating on the legs of the ab fab four as they mounted camels and took to the dunes of Abu Dhabi, the belly-dancing bottoms also showed up on catwalks in both spring and fall collections. Alexander Wang and Valentino enveloped their models in peek-a-boo swaths of chiffon and lace. Diane von Furstenberg punched up over cover ups with a leopard-print harem style, and not even draping can hide the see through nature of Tom Scott's delicate pants. So, Abu Dhabi or not—would you wear them?
Luckily, it seems the cutest styles are the ones that can be worn now like Acne, Alexander Wang and DVF. They're playful but still chic and are versatile enough for a variety of occasions. Summer fashion never takes itself too seriously so a bit of sheer mixed with a fun print is the perfect recipe for a flirty summer look. As for the more demure versions for fall……well, we'll cross that bridge when we get there. But hooray! At least women are starting to wear pants again!
