Lorenzo Martone must be looking to Marc Jacobs for a little friendly competition.

Martone is set to launch his first foray into fashion: a new line of women's swimsuits under his new Nycked label. The collection will consist of 20 designs. The Nycked name plays on New York's initials N.Y.C.

“We saw an opportunity in the marketplace for something cooler and more downtown,” explained Martone. “Swim seems to be dominated by an L.A. aesthetic, and our collection brings a New York attitude to it.”

The suits vary between being adorned with heat-bonded foil sequins, over-sized decorative bows in ciré Lycra, bold corset lacing and lingerie-inspired lace peeking out of demi-cut bikini tops. Look for black, white and red as the color themes with mesh overlay on some designs.

Martone and jewelry designer Jules Kim collaborated to an line of swimwear inspired by the urban aesthetic of Manhattan with a sophisticated touch. Retailing between $120 and $210, Martone is still looking for a major chain to carry the brand, nothing that he would like Saks Fifth Avenue or Neiman Marcus.

The swimsuits will be in stores this November
