Alright New Yorkers, here's another one for you! Just in time for the summer solstice (and on the heels of my California vacay), Uniqlo launches its collaborative line with quintessential SoCal label Velvet. The Japanese retailer may have its only U.S. outpost on the eastern shores of New York, but decided on the Sunshine State in teaming up with their first west coast label. Headed up by Jenny Graham and Toni Spencer, Velvet's carved a solid name for itself in its selection of casual, super-comfy jersey dresses, tops, tanks and trousers.“The inspiration for us is
naturally our Southern California lifestyle: easy, comfortable, drapey,
sexy fashion,” says Graham.
The exclusive capsule collection will consist of 14 items, ranging from the classic t-shirt to camisoles to dresses and
jersey harem pants. Spencer says they designed the collection into into four groups to
reflect four different L.A. spots—the Hollywood Roosevelt, Rodeo Drive,
Venice Beach, and Point Dume (past Malibu). “We’re used to designing
for a savvy customer,” Spencer says, “but we usually focus on someone
who craves comfort and prefers to dress for that casual L.A. lifestyle.
The Uniqlo customer is different because they are so international.” No matter what country you're coming from, with retail prices from $15.50-$19.50, this east meets west partnership spells out some seriously good deals.
The Velvet x Uniqlo capsule collection hits shelves today at Uniqlo, 546 Broadway in NYC.
