In the latest development to Alexander McQueen's empire following he designer's death, designer Pina Ferlisi has been named creative director of McQueen's
diffusion line McQ. Ferlisi will reportedly work under the newly
appointed head of his eponymous line, Sarah Burton.
Ferlisi previously held the position as creative director at
womenswear label Generra, as well as executive vice president
of design at Gap. She was even thought to be responsible for creating the brand's hipper, revamped image. The designer has also acted as creative director of Marc by Marc Jacobs and Coach.
The McQ diffusion line was launched in 2006 and contains all of the wild, rebellious elements McQueen's mainline collection has but with a younger, more urban feel. Between her time at the Gap and Marc by Marc Jacobs, Ferlisi should have no problem maintaining McQ's famously edgy image.
