Workout DVD Review: Lengthen, Strengthen & Transform Your Physique From Home With Exhale Spa’s Core Fusion Lean & Toned

"A solid total-body toner" –USA Today

I'm a huge fan of exhale spa's Core Fusion classes and go whenever I am able. I love being challenged physically and judging by the totally cut women in the classes (at least on the Upper East Side in NYC), it obviously works (Read Carol's review here). In case you are not familiar with Core Fusion, it's an amazingly intense 50 minute class that combines Pilates, Lotte Berk Method, yoga, and dance disciplines that not only kicks your behind, but can actually reshape your body without adding bulk!

That's right. You can reshape your body through stretching. If you are not lucky enough to have an exhale spa in your city, you can now you achieve the same results at home or on the road with the new Exhale Core Fusion Lean & Toned DVD. All you need are 3 or 5 pound weights, a chair and a wall.

Since I am unable to get to the gym when I visit my parents, I recently took this DVD with me to test at their house. Risky I know, but I can't tell you how pleased I was. So pleased in fact, I have since been using it at home while the baby is napping! It's love and it's kinda hate, but in a good way!

The layout of the DVD is perfect. You can pick one segment or body area at a time (five 10 minute segments each including a final stretch) or play the entire DVD without introductions (although I suggest listening to them the first time through) to simulate an actual class and experience a total-body workout.

Segments include:

  • Upper Body Tone & Stretch
  • Thighs Tone & Stretch
  • Flat/Round Back Tone & Stretch
  • Gluteal Tone & Stretch
  • Pretzel Core Tone
  • And a bonus stretch

In the bonus features section there is even an extra thighs & glutes workout and a creative core abs workout!

Husband and wife team and Core Fusion co-creators Fred DeVito and
Elisabeth Halfpapp will lead you on this amazing workout which I promise you will not grow bored with. Mind you, I like the actual classes a bit better because the instructor is there to help correct your form, which is terribly important for this type of workout. If you are like me, no matter how hard you try…you may think you are doing the exercise properly, but just need a little tweaking once-in-awhile. Yet, judging by my soreness the next day, I must be doing something right! The actual classes are also more intense. This is a bit of a watered down version, yet it's still very effective.

Using this DVD in combination with my cardio workouts in the gym is the perfect balance for me. While I strongly urge you to try an actual Core Fusion class at exhale, this DVD is better than most. I highly recommend it!
