All of you tan-aholics, be warned. It's going to cost a little bit of extra money to get darker.
Yesterday marked the first full day of the first new tax to fund health care reform: a 10 percent increase on indoor tanning services. This is just another one of the victims of the taxes of the "sins", following in the footsteps of the taxing of soda and cigarettes.
This tanning tax is expected to raise $2.7 billion over the next 10 years, according to Congress' Joint Committee on Taxation.
So of course, one of the spokeswomen on the subject is Jersey Shore's Snooki. She has even given up tanning in favor of self-tanning spray because of the tax. "I don't go tanning anymore because Obama put a 10 percent tax on tanning," she explained. "He did that because of us. McCain would never put a 10 percent tax on tanning. Because he's pale and he'd probably want to be tan."
