When I first had my son I thought "I'll make him homemade organic baby food." Then when I realized how time consuming baby rearing is my thought became "I'll buy him organic baby food." True, organic baby food is now easy to find and relatively inexpensive (Earth's Best), but have you ever tasted it? Um, no thanks.
I was in the Hamptons about a month ago with my family and while spending and arm and a leg on really nothing at Eli's I noticed a display for Sprout Organic Baby Food. At $1.99 per resealable package I picked up 3 to see if my son would like it. Well, the Roasted Bananas with Brown Rice was a huge hit. Now to be fair, I could mash up a banana and mix it with liver and my son would probably love it, but when I tasted this baby food, I was won over. I was thinking of sprinkling it with a little brown sugar and eating it myself. It was that good.
So I did a little research…Sprout is a new baby food line that was created by a chef, is 100% organic, and comes in convenient re-sealable BPA free pouch packages that turns into a bowl, so it’s easy to use for feeding at home or on the go. Besides being BPA-free, all of Sprout’s ingredients are USDA certified organic. 16 of 18 recipes are dairy and wheat free and none of Sprout’s products
have fillers, sugar, preservatives, or anything artificial.
Sprout was co-founded by 14-year Food Network veteran Tyler Florence, a chef, an author of 5 cookbooks, and most importantly, a father. His own children were his inspiration! Sprout’s recipes harness Florence’s culinary expertise, with highly nutritious, flavorful foods that your baby will love. I promise…mine does.
Last week I attended a luncheon in NYC at Kidville with my son and as my good fortune would have it, I won the Sprout giveaway which was 8 packages of baby food. I usually don't win anything so I was thrilled to have the opportunity for my son to try some of the other varieties. They could not have picked a more grateful winner!
The Sprout baby food product line has 18 unique recipes (currently stages 1 and 2). Some of the most popular flavors include: Oatmeal with Roasted Cinnamon Applesauce; Peach Rice Pudding; Pasta with Lentil Bolognese; Sweet Baby Carrots, Apples & Mango; and Summer Squash, Yukon Gold Potatoes and Parmesan.
