Another 1.5 pounds this week. So now I'm down 3.5 pounds total. Am I stoked? Not really because obviously I wish it was more. I admittedly would have liked to see a 6 pound loss by now, but I realize slow and steady wins the race. I also cheated a bit. Yes, I had a glass of wine and a Godiva truffle. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but it is. I also know I have not been drinking enough water. Why? Frankly, I hate having to run to the bathroom all the time so I tend to camel it too much. I know that's not good, but I'm a busy person!
So what lesson have I learned this week aside from not cheating? I was eating way too much. It is painfully evident when I see my tiny meal portions. I mean the one small white chocolate chip cookie I had for dessert last night was 160 calories! Imagine what I had been consuming when I thought nothing about popping a few cookies in my mouth when I was pregnant? Or worse yet, my massive Crumbs cupcakes? I can only imagine how many calories and grams of fat are in one beloved Crumbs cupcake. How did I get this out of control?
So for a little experiment I tried to eyeball or guesstimate the 1/2 cup of blueberries I wanted to add to my seemingly puny bowl of cereal. Let's face it, who doesn't fill their bowl up halfway with cereal and the rest with milk? I must have been eating about 600 calories for breakfast on cereal alone! Anyway, I put aside what I thought was a half cup of blueberries and it was really closer to 3/4 of a cup. I did the same thing with the milk. I'm allowed a 1/2 cup skim milk with my cereal. I poured myself closer to a full cup. So there you have it. My portion size has been skewed and I was still hungry! So if for nothing else, Nutrisystem is helping get my mind trained again for healthy sized portions. And for that, I'm thankful. I have to go pour another glass of water, so until next week…wish me luck.
