Collette Dinnigan Launches Breezy Contemporary Line

Australian designer Collette Dinnigan has been busy. She has just completed the launch of her collaborative lingerie line with Marks & Spencer and now, has just announced her plans for yet another line, this time aimed at a contemporary audience. “I’ve always wanted to do a diffusion line,” says
Dinnigan, who will celebrate her 20th anniversary this year. “This felt
like the right moment to do it.”

The name of the new label will be Collette by Collette
, which also happens to be that of her
Marks & Spencer line. Wholesale prices are already being posted from $70 to $150, in comparison to the designer’s
main collection which runs from $465 to $1,250. Dinnigan promises many simple, relaxed silhouettes in the 35-piece line, but with her signature elements like embroideries and prints “It’s very much a
travel-leisure collection — much more relaxed and bohemian,” explains
Dinnigan. “I call it city-to-surf.”  Highlights of the collection include vacay-friendly cottons and linens, cut into
smocks and swingy dresses and tops
. Accents run the gamut from girlish eyelet  a colorful array of paisley prints. Dinnigan's said her decision to keep things breezy and low-key was a personal one. “It’s
the way I dress, actually,
” she explained. “When you’re a working mom
in the country, you want to wear very loose and easy clothes.”
