Nothing says sophisticated to me more than a nude lip. Think Brigitte Bardot circa 1950 to Kim Kardashian, dare I say, gasp!, circa 2010. OK, well you may not want to be the sex kitten staring in a film, but you may want the perfect pout to pair with a smokey eye at night, or something nude for day. Here are some of my favorite nudes for all occasions.

I can’t tell you how much I love Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, and Belle De Jour is one of my absolute favorite colors. This light nude beige pencil is great as a liner, and lipstick, but even perfect as a primer. The sticks are so pigment-rich that application will be kept to a minimum all day!

Not to fond of lipsticks but still want the perfect nude pout? Try Yves Saint Laurent’s Golden Gloss in Golden Nude. This gloss isn’t just any old gloss, it’s a luxury gloss. What’s so luxurious that makes this gloss hard penny to swallow? Well, it leaves your lips sparkling, with real 24-carat-gold flecks to give you a high shine mirror-effect. Okay well if you are not already sold, I must say the scent is heavenly!

When you need the perfect nude with no guessing, try MAC’s lipstick in Myth. One of the most universal nudes, it works well with the palest of skin to darker skin. Yes, it can be paired with the perfect liner, but it can be worn alone and look fantastic.

No need to splurge on the perfect nude lipstick, when there are great alternatives right at your nearest drugstore. Revlon’s Matte Lipstick in Nude Attitude has your answer. This fleshy-peachy color is perfect if you want just a little bit of color but still pull off the nude lip look. Because it is matte, I would suggest a moisturizer underneath, but it is a gorgeous color.

Can I just say his name… Tom Ford? What would you expect. Well, I didn’t expect anything less, and his new lipsticks are fantastic. One of my favs Vanilla Suedeis the perfect bare nude and is formulated with rare exotic ingredients like chamomile flower oil, Brazilian murumuru butter and soja seed. You can expect this to be a splurge, and it is, but as Ford himself says, “There’s no more dramatic accessory than a perfect lip.”
