I don’t know about you, but I lose my sunglasses almost more often than I go shopping (and that’s a somewhat frequent occurrence). I love sunglasses that make a statement. However, as that needs to be made with several different pairs on a rotating basis, I’d prefer a statement sans a hefty price point.

My favorite pair of sunglasses is a pair of large round thin tortoise shell plastic frames. They’re larger than life, and I discovered them in a vintage store in Brooklyn. Since my favorite pair of sunglasses didn’t come from Gucci or Chanel, I decided I could find others that may not tote a designer label, but do tote a style forced to be reckoned with. Besides, I most likely will lose my others in a week, so I need a back-up…or two.

I scoured the racks of department stores and resale stores and found some great sale items along with some retro shades to add to my collection. Then upon a visit home, my mother was wearing a fantastic pair of oversized sunglasses with a sort of yellow wood-grain look to the frames. They were fabulous!

She shared a secret with me…. The Limited is featuring a sale on sunglasses right now. All of their shades are currently on sale from $25 to $9. Guess where I stopped on the way home?
