A Day in the Life: My Nutrisystem Journey Week 6

August 19, 2010 • Lifestyle

My son Liam trying to eat the Nutrisystem food I should have been eating!

There are two reasons why I did not write about week 5 on my Nutrisystem diet. One, I was on vacation and two, I skipped the week. Yes, I feel off (or rather swan dove off) the wagon. I shipped my food to my parent's house and did fine for the first 5 days of my 10 day visit. Then my mother had me help her prepare food for a cookout really for my friends last Saturday. I resisted the baked beans while making them and knew to clear out when the homemade potato salad was being made.

Friends came to town during my visit and stayed with my family so of course there had to be some diet unfriendly food in the house. So by Thursday of last week, when they arrived for the weekend, I was a goner. We went to a favorite French restaurant for dinner Thursday night. I stuck to an appetizer of salmon carpaccio and Liam_nutrisystem_2 a steamed lobster salad…not bad, but then I drank a lot of wine. By the time I got home I attacked the Hibbard's Frozen Custard in the freezer. Friday we went to our favorite Chinese restaurant Ming Teh in Fort Erie, Canada. Let me tell you, if I had one last meal on earth, it would be here. There was no WAY I was going to miss this meal! Yet, I used chopsticks and kept it to one small serving of each. That night, however, I just threw in the towel. Fashion Week be damned, even though I bought 2 dresses I need to fit in to. I went to a concert and had some light beer and a few french fries! See where this is heading? Hey, at least I'm admitting to it all!

By the time the cookout took place on Saturday I ate some backed beans, ribs, chips, homemade cherry pie and drank wine. But, I did skip the potato salad. Needless to say, I had quite a bit of Nutrisystem food to bring back with me!

Come Tuesday, the day I was leaving, I woke up feeling nauseous. I had no appetite whatsoever. It must have been part of God's evil plan. It lasted two days so for the past two days I have consumed possibly 1200 calories. Nothing gets you back on a diet quite like a bug. Then again, guilt had already done a good job getting me back on track. Mind you, I'm still not ready to weight myself. Next Wednesday for sure. I think…
