Remember how last year’s Fashion’ Night Out was first advertised by that video that featured the likes of Zac Posen, Carolina Herrera, Anna Wintour and Sarah Jessica Parker all clad in the FNO t-shirts talking about how great the event would be? Well, guess what-they were right! So this year, they’re kicking the campaign into higher gear (if possible) by taking it to the streets of New York. The Public Service Announcement will feature top models riding a double-decker bus through the five boroughs, and wearing designer dresses and the official Fashion’s Night Out T-shirt, which benefits the New York City AIDS fund.
Trey Laird of Laird + Partners designed the segment, and Peter Lindbergh, (the famed photographer who recently returned to Vogue after years working for Harper’s Bazaar), filmed models Karlie Kloss, Caroline Trentini, Doutzen Kroes, Liya Kebede, Karolina Kurkova, Lara Stone, Miranda Kerr, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Joan Smalls, Chanel Iman, Stella Tennant, Lily Donaldson, Sasha Pivovarova and Jourdan Dunn. “This year, it was really about fashion hitting the streets,” Laird told WWD. “It was important that all of New York City was represented.” Locations in the shoot included PS 1 in Long Island City, the Bronx Zoo, Central Park and Lincoln Center, the new home of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Fun Fact: David Bowie allowed the team to use his 1980 hit “Fashion” for the soundtrack, after Laird asked Bowie’s wife, Iman, when the two were working together on the 2010 CFDA Fashion Awards Journal. New Yorkers: Keep and eye out since the 30-, 15- and 10-second segments launch on network TV, in taxi cabs and online today! As for the rest of us, here’s a sneak peek of the new Fashion’s Night Out PSA hot off the presses!
