It’s almost time to kiss the sweet breezes of summer goodbye, which is always a bit of a bummer. But the good news is, fall is arguably the most fab of seasons in the fashion world, from September covers to spring runway shows—and you can’t help but get excited. This fall, start the season off right by channeling a bit of tough girl edge in a rock-inspired ensemble. These days, women across the globe are revisiting music icons like Madonna and Cyndi Lauper to achieve that perfect bad girl style. And while a recording contract isn’t needed, to “rock” this particular look, a serious dose of attitude is.

The first piece any naughty but nice girl should invest in is a solid leather jacket. The bread and butter of any hot rock chick, the leather jacket announces a woman’s presence as soon as she walks into a room. Classic wide lapels with studded hardware lend an extra dose of edge to a sexy black mini, like Blumarine’s runway ensemble. And thrown over a lighter weight outfit, like Rebecca Minkoff’s version, the luxe leather anchors down a girlier look and lets them know you’re may be some sugar, but you’re much more spice.
