I normally eschew celebrity scents because let's face it, most don't smell great. However I admit I kinda like Avril Lavigne's first scent Black Star, so I wanted to check out her follow-up scent Forbidden Rose. Mind you, she's lost some points from me since she started dating Brody Jenner (soon to be on a reality show near you).
Anywho, according to Avril, Forbidden Rose challenges women to be bold and push boundaries. finding excitement in a world of no restrictions. Inspired by the symbolic black rose, the fragrance is dark, yet fresh. “I wanted to create a fragrance which takes the unique attitude of my first scent to a new emotional depth, adding mystery as well as a bit of magic,” says Avril.
Forbidden Rose is a sparkling fusion of fruity, floral and woody notes that blend together to create a spirited composition. The fragrance opens with the forbidden fruit itself–ever enchanting red apple, enhanced by a delicious wine peach. The scent then unfolds further with notes of white lotus at the heart, adding a pureness and beauty. The base of the fragrance exudes warmth through vanilla and sweet praline notes. A deep woody accord, emerges at the base completing Forbidden Rose’s captivating tale.
I'm a little biased since I normally go for rose scented fragrances. This one is surprisingly a darker, heavier if you will. But I like it.
The multi-faceted flacon, features a silver barbed wire encircling the neck of the bottle while a black rose completes the design as a glossy cap. The barbed wire offers another unique surprise–a ring that can be worn as a daring accessory.
