Summary: Backstage, designer Adam Lippes, told us the ADAM girl is 25+ and loves fashion, but isn't driven by trends. She's refined and chic. Therefore he identified with Charlotte Gainsbourg's character in the movie The City of Your Final Destination for his Spring 2011 collection. It translated into a muted and soft color palette with pops of color and interesting combinations.

What worked with the collection was that there was something for everyone. For every body type and for real women who have body flaws, but are confident. Unlike most designers, he designed for us, not the models. Now ivory and beige are hard colors for a lot of us to wear, but it seems Spring 2011 is turning out to be about muted colors all across the board. With Adam's clothes, you could easily add a pop of color with a jacket here or a sweater there.

The pants were high-waist sailor inspired flares that laced up the back and were shown in a variety of colors and fabrics. Oddly, they worked when combined with cropped laced blouses, jackets or cropped chunky sweaters thereby showing us that one pair of these pants will carry you far within your existing wardrobe. A few ADAM pieces and you are ready for spring without looking like a fashion victim.

Knowing where Adam grew up I had to laugh at one look that was totally out of The Preppy Handbook. Personally I loved it. It reminded me of home and it reminded me where Adam Lippes came from and how far he has evolved.
