Now that Labor Day has come and gone, I feel that I can finally tune into fall fashion and start getting excited about boots, layers and luxe fabrics. Every year I tell myself I’m going to be super organized about my fall/winter wardrobe, and this time I really hope I can keep the pledge.
While the very first task I’ll cross off on my list is stocking up on black opaque tights (I prefer DKNY from Nordstrom), the real treat will be slipping my stockings into J. Crew’s “Bronson†leather and snakeskin platform booties ($350 at jcrew.com). From the deep scoop front, to back zipper and python-covered 3-1/2 inch heel, this is my new favorite pair. I’m excited to wear them with a sleek dress or skinny black pants with an architectural blazer.
Speaking of blazers, how about the “Terrace House Jacket†($138 at anthropologie.com) a beautiful topper with an open ruffled front? Available in beige, grey and orange, this jacket would pair nicely with a skirt, dress or tailored pants and is the ideal weight for autumn. Stock up on jackets like these – they are your friend!
Since kids get their back-to-school backpacks each year, I think it’s only fair I that I dream about a new fall handbag. If I get good grades, I really hope I can have Stella McCartney’s Falabella Chain-Trimmed Nag ($1,095 at net-a-porter.com), a sumptuous taupe canvas bag that is versatile, yet adds a touch of metallic glamour to any look. If that’s not motivation, I don’t know what is!
With a brand new website, Nordstrom is an inspiration for fall fashion shopping. I’m especially a fan of the latest Kate Spade collection, featuring dresses like the “Lucinda†($425 at nordstrom.com), a monochrome abstract print that is both feminine and bold. It will definitely take you from fall to winter, as it pairs well with tights and boots or a cardigan and pumps.
I’ll also need to freshen up my jewelry collection with some solid pieces that will carry me through fall into winter. I have my eye on a bracelet like the Maison Martin Margiela twisted piece ($242 at farfetch.com), which is constructed of a rich brown leather with brass detail.
Finally, it wouldn’t be fall without a new scarf to wrap around your neck. I can’t help but a buy a new one each season – I love how they keep any outfit looking fresh! Shopbop has a great selection right now, and I’m loving all the designs by We Are Owls, especially the Cheetah scarf ($218 at shopbop.com).
